White Spot
Identifying White Spot:
The white spots can be seen easily with the naked eye. The outbreak occurs quickly.
The parasite penetrates the skin and gills in severe infestations. The parasite “erupts” out of the skin and moves to a quiet area in the pond where it can reproduce. Velvet requires a host to survive.
After penetrating the skin or gills the reproduction of parasite is dependent on temperture and immunity of koi.
If koi survive a white spot infestation they are normally immune against a second attack.
